Having said that, I must confess, I am not a big fan of the W10 UI either. And then, once you are running your program, the OS more or less stepout of the way so you don't really see it anyway.
And of course, besides facilitating communications between the various hardware components (a primary function of any OS), the OS has the responsibility of supporting your favorite programs - which W10 does too.
